let's take a moment & break the ice
so my intentions are known
Monday nights were the scheduled nights that Xavier had to go and patrol for any 'witch activity'. To him it was pointless, his family had been there for over a few months and he had yet to see any activity besides the first witch his father had found on their first night. To which his father had 'interrogated' for about fifteen minutes before demonstrating how to kill a witch to his two sons.
If Xavier said that watching his father kill a witch didn't make him a little sick, then that was a lie. He wanted to puke after watching his father cut off the witch's head. But it was all in the name of the family, to bring the family name back to it's former glory. The 'legend' went that a young beautiful woman had seduced a young man from his family. The family had lost every to her only to find out that she was a witch. She had managed to kill the guy but was later killed by his younger brother. The younger brother then vowed to rid the world of witches.
That was how young Xavier was roped into the family business. As a kid he never thought much of it, thinking it some sort of weird fairy tale really. But as he grew older and more curious, he snuck around the house & found out that the fairy tale was true & it was about his family.
Tonight Xavier had decided to investigate the woods. He had people say a few days ago that something weird was scurrying around there. So of course he assumed it was a raccoon or some small animal, not a witch or anything. Rolling down the sleeves of his jacket, he shivered a little as he grabbed his cell phone. Even though his father didn't know how to text, he still knew how to ask somebody to read any that he got from people. Quickly sending a text saying that there nothing going on yet, he hit send, hoping he could leave early tonight.
Xavier didn't mind patrols. Usually he would do his homework during them. But now that he had somebody of interest to him, all he wanted to do was spend time with Lloyd. Lloyd was different from everybody else he had met. And that wasn't a bad thing. He liked it, a lot. But of course Caden had to be protective older brother on him.
Hearing a twig snap behind him, Xavier reached for the knife in his pocket and threw it. When it came to knives, that was what he was best with. He left anything long ranged to his brother. He made sure to throw the knife so it stuck into some article of clothing rather than hurting the person. "Whose there?" he asked as he began to approach whoever made the noise.
